Within the last couple of weeks, ragesage and I have scarpered off to the movie theater together to see two of the most anticipated films of the holiday season: Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, and Avatar, starring a bunch of people we’d never heard of, with the exception of Sigourney Weaver and “that one chick who was in Resident Evil.”
It was actually kind of an interesting experience. The one we expected to suck, didn’t! And the one that everyone was going ga-ga over really didn’t thrill us all that much. Here’s why we think it all happened…

This week’s review is going to be short but sweet, since I haven’t actually finished the game (and can’t give it a full review).
The God of War Collection came out for the PS3 a few weeks ago, and after waiting patiently for ANY retailer in my area to have a copy,* I was finally ready to have another go at killing a god.

Weather you have had it for five days out-of-the-box new, or you have an old junker from 2001, a dead hard drive affects us all the same. Today, I started up my laptop and got a scare: my Windows and hard drive couldn’t be recognized.
My first reaction was a giant “oh shit.” After the initial reaction, I calmed down and got my back-up hard drive and my Passport, Western Digital’s portable drive, and went about restoring my data. I am a generally savvy individual, meaning that I have built several computers and am studying for A+ certification.

We all face it, but what is it?
Data erosion is the rate of decay or data loss in any data set. You find this in every form of information, ranging from DNA and video archives to operating systems. The world must be melting! All of our data is breaking faster than Humpty Dumpty under Captain Crunch’s boot heel.

Infinity Labs is back at it, bringing the much anticipated sequel to the largely popular Modern Warfare.
Modern Warfare 2 starts off five years after the first game, and brings you in as U.S. Army Ranger Private Joseph Allen in Afghanistan, who under command of a few familiar faces from the previous game, helps try to stop the Ultranationalists in their new plot to execute Vladimir Makarov’s campaign of terrorism in Europe.

Have a few spare dollars laying around, burning a hole in your pocket?
Like killing zombies in creative ways?
Like blood and gore?
Then you should try Zombie Apocalypse for the PS3 and PC*!

I’m sure that this is probably old news to some of you, but for those that haven’t exactly been in the loop, Netflix has allegedly made plans to roll out video streaming on the PS3, a plan that will go live in November (after their exclusive contract with Xbox expires).
This is good news for those that have PS3’s and a Netflix account and want to watch movies on something other than their computer (like myself).

Of course, by the time I show up, the site is already in full swing, but between moving, a full time job, babysitting immature adult relatives, pollinating fast food entree items, and being the family IT guy, things can get pretty hectic pretty quickly.

Now, I found a tool. Security tools are hard to find. All of you that are not in security, this is an amazing tool. Like all good tools it is simple and to the point. This happens to be one that spoofs your Mac address. Too all that do not know what a Mac address is, it is short for Machine address, which is what us security people track you by. I change my IP 20 times a second and have even seen some interesting software to do so. Yet a Mac address is the best and effective.

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s that time again when the two top competitors unleash their major software packages. My author warning would be that this post is written purely out of opinion and experience, so don’t wet your pants. Tomorrow is the release date of Ubuntu 9.10 and I thought it would be fair to cover all of the operating systems as a bonus to make this longer.
Windows 7 was released a week ago tomorrow. It has supposedly “fixed” the problems plaguing Vista. I am using the RC2 at the moment. I have to say I like it a lot, for a Microsoft OS. The last OS I really was pleased with from Microsoft was XP.
